I had the great opportunity to concept and design several walls in the new wing of the ASICS headquarters in Irvine. I pulled inspiration for each of these pieces from ASICS heritage and brand roots. I used various materials to highlight each area, Like; an actual rubber track, a custom built Japanese soji screen, and historic photography and, of course, iconic shoes.
Historical Timeline Hall
This timeline hall was designed with historical imagery and details about the brand's heritage and milestones. The experience was intended to be a clean and modern walk through a long and storied past.
Onitsuka Tiger Soji Screen Display
This display was specifically designed to showcase the Onitsuka Tiger collection. We hired a woodworker to create an actual Soji screen display with backlighting and shelves that extend out from the balanced design. It has a clear and tasteful influence from traditional Japanese construction and craftsmanship.
Track and Field Heritage Wall
This wall was inspired by one of the most iconic sports moments in Olympic history. The image is of Lasse Viren holding his Onitsuka Tigers Runsparks over his head, during his victory lap after winning 2 gold medals in 1972. What we did was instal an actual rubber track into the wall and then stylized the icon photo of Lasse and printed it directly on the material.
